What is biblical counseling?
Biblical Counseling is an approach to counseling that uses the Bible, God's Word, to address the issues a person is struggling with, whether it is the weight of personal sin or the weight of human suffering, or both. Biblical counseling addresses the heart as the source of a person's actions and reactions. The goal is not just behavioral change, but heart change. Therefore, biblical counseling is dependent on the work of the Holy Spirit. The truth of scripture and the power of prayer are essential to the process of healing and growth.
Our biblical counseling program was created to address needs among the economically disadvantaged. We have found that there are many in our community who are hurting and isolated without anyone to talk to for wise and healthy relational support. JC Cares trains mature Christ-followers, who we call "Care Coaches," to walk alongside people in need and join them on their journey of healing. Care Coaches help clients uncover the lies that they've believe and gently lead them to the truth in God's Word. Our Care Coaches pray fervently and faithfully for God's work in our clients' lives.
If you would like for God to use you in someone's life as a careful and discerning listener and as a compassionate guide to discovering God's truth, then we would love to talk with you more!
